'L'Inconnue de la Rue' by Rone: "


While the world of Australian street art typically calls to mind folks such as Anthony Lister and Kid Zoom, the vibrant scene down under is flourishing albeit a bit under the radar here stateside. One of Melbourne's better known artists, Rone, recently opened his debut solo show at one of our favorite galleries in Oz, Backwoods. Entitled 'L'Inconnue de la Rue', this new body of gallery work is loosely based on the story and visage of L'Inconnue de la Seine, a French drowning/suicide popularized in the late 1800s by the victim's calming and angelic face.
