Her combined use of contemporary and traditional techniques, along with her creative use of materials, makes her work innovative and original. “This year I have been asked to create more and more album covers, which I love doing, but I noticed that the ones which I wanted to work on most were the ones where I had been inspired or moved by the music itself. This in turn has started a new project this July on Flickr which I have called Musically Inspired Album Covers. The artwork here has been created and inspired by simply listening to the music.”

Mike Perry

Mike Perry:
Mike Perry
Brooklyn-based artist and designer Mike Perry does many different things but his paintings are unforgettable. While all of his work is unusual and innovative, it still has enough commercial appeal for big name companies to constantly hire him. I love his use of geometric shapes and bright, bold colors achieved with different mediums. He has such an impressive body of work that it’s impossible to choose favorites.

Illustrator, street artist, graffiti artist, designer Aaron De La Cruz started drawing on everything, including the walls of his bedroom, from a very young age. Much of his street art appears in California, from L.A. to San Francisco. His work, “though minimal and direct at first, tends to overcome barriers of separation and freely steps in and out of the realms of design, graffiti, and illustration.”

Next Saturday, October 15th, 2011, De La Cruz will be showing past, present, and future work at his exhibit Long Walk Home at Loft in Space in Honolulu. Included in the exhibit will be a room created to look like his childhood bedroom… the one where he drew on the walls.
